On the 10th and 11th of May, Kothari Model United Nations 2024 proved to be an exemplary
platform for young minds to engage in diplomatic discussions and address pressing global
issues. Held at the prestigious Kothari International School in Noida, the conference
welcomed over 350 delegates from Delhi NCR, national, and international levels.
Under the visionary leadership of our Principal, Dr. Sangeeta Arora, and Vice Principal, Mr. Manish Seksaria, and with the mentorship of Ms. Dipti Chawla and Ms. Garima Joshi, KMUN proved to be an immense success. The tireless efforts of 14 Secretariat Members, 02 Chief Advisors, 30 Organising Committee Members, and the
KIS Social Science Department embody the very dedication promoted at Kothari International School. The International Forum Club, in collaboration with UNODC and CRY, headed this youth-led movement, which brought together diverse perspectives.
The two-day conference promoted a diverse field of committees, each with an agenda affecting people on the global stage. From the United Nations General Assembly to specialised bodies like the United Nations Security Council , United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, United Nations International Children Fund, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, All India Political
Parties Meet, the Joint Crisis Committee and International Press, participants were immersed in multifaceted discussions.
The conference was not only about diplomacy but also included the showcasing of the vibrant culture and talent of Kothari International School. Both the opening and closing ceremonies were enhanced with captivating dance and band performances by talented Kothari students.
The opening ceremony of the event was graced by the esteemed presence of Ms. Jyotika
Kalra, a distinguished representative from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), who served as the chief guest. The ceremony was also graced by the distinguished presence of Mr. Marco Teixeira, the representative of UNODC in Asia, whose address inspired delegates to strive for impactful change throughout the conference. The insightful remarks by our Chief Guest, Ms. Jyotika Kalra, and Guest of Honour, Mr. Marco Teixeira set the tone for the next 2 days, which were full of diplomacy and collaboration.
Throughout the conference, participants delved into a wide range of topics, from
socioeconomic development and human rights to security and environmental sustainability. Discussions were marked by cooperation, intellect, and mutual respect, reflecting the very values the United Nations encompasses.
As the conference drew to a close, delegates left with enriched perspectives and newfound
friendships. 33 students from various schools won the prestigious prizes for the positions of
Best Delegate, High Commendation and Special Mention. The esteemed prize of ‘Best
School Delegation’ was taken by Delhi Public School, Ghaziabad.
The success of Kothari MUN 2024 serves as a testament to the power of youth engagement in shaping a more inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable future.
