“Entrepreneurship helped shift our mindset from ‘What job will I get?’ to ‘What value can I create?’”

When I first chose Entrepreneurship as a subject in Grade 11, I had no idea how profoundly it would transform the way I look at the world.

Today, having completed my CBSE Grade 12 Board Exams with Entrepreneurship as one of my core subjects, I can confidently say — this subject has been a game-changer. Not just academically, but in shaping my thinking, decision-making, and real-world perspective.

We live in a time where start-ups are no longer just businesses — they’re movements.

India now ranks as the third-largest start-up ecosystem in the world, with over 1,40,000 DPIIT-recognised start-ups as of mid-2024. That reflects the incredible momentum and entrepreneurial spirit in our country.

The CBSE’s decision to introduce Entrepreneurship in Grades 11 and 12 wasn’t just timely — it was necessary.

Through case studies, projects, and practical learning, the subject helped me understand how businesses work, from ideation, market research, pricing, branding, to pitching and funding.

Terms like angel investor, venture capital, and break-even analysis weren’t just theoretical anymore — they became tools to decode the world around me.

I still remember watching Shark Tank India during my Entrepreneurship journey — for the first time, I wasn’t just entertained; I was informed.I understood the language of the sharks. I knew what they meant when they spoke about valuations or customer acquisition costs. What once sounded complex now felt familiar.

I also learned that many successful businesses were born because someone dared to think differently, be it a food delivery app solving late-night hunger or a sustainable brand disrupting fast fashion.

Entrepreneurship made us ask:

What problem would I solve?

At Kothari International School, I had the privilege of learning under the guidance of Mrs. Nishu Goel Ma’am, who brought the subject to life with real-time discussions and innovative projects. Her mentorship was a key part of this transformative journey.

To every student out there wondering if Entrepreneurship is the right subject, trust me, it is.

Even if you don’t launch a start-up, you’ll start thinking like an entrepreneur, and that, in today’s world, makes all the difference.
