On April 23, 2025, students of Grades XI and XII at Kothari International School, Noida stepped into the fast-paced world of global economics through the PlayNomics “Win-Win” Game, an immersive simulation workshop conducted by the Indian School of Business and Finance (ISBF). The engaging session was facilitated by Ms. Aryapriya Ganguly, a distinguished expert in Economics and Higher Education Outreach.

Bringing Economic Theory to Life

The workshop introduced students to real-world economic concepts through an innovative simulation that mimicked international trade. Divided into teams, each representing a unique country with its own set of resources, students competed to maximize national income by manufacturing and trading paper-based goods, such as circles, triangles, and rectangles, in a dynamic, fluctuating marketplace.

Set in an environment that mimicked real-world economic volatility, students negotiated, bartered, and strategized as prices shifted in real-time based on supply and demand. This hands-on experience enabled them to deeply understand and internalize economic and business principles through active participation.

Learning Outcomes: Concepts in Action

Throughout the game, students explored critical economic theories and skills, including:

  • Comparative Advantage (Ricardo’s Theory)

  • Division of Labour and Specialisation

  • International Trade and Resource Allocation

  • Supply and Demand Dynamics

  • Strategic Outsourcing and Opportunity Cost

  • Teamwork, Negotiation, and Time Management

By assuming the roles of national economic representatives, students gained invaluable insights into how informed, collaborative decision-making shapes global trade.

Highlights and Recognition

The simulation created a vibrant atmosphere filled with energy, teamwork, and strategic thinking. Two teams stood out for their exceptional performance, demonstrating innovation, leadership, and a solid grasp of economic concepts:

Winning Team 1: Team Alpha

The PlayNomics “Win-Win” Game proved to be an impactful experience, demonstrating the power of experiential learning in transforming theoretical knowledge into practical skills. Students not only learned the mechanics of international trade but also developed critical soft skills essential in the modern world.
