As I sit down to reflect on my journey through Kothari International School (KIS) thus far, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude for the experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. My name is Aditi Rana, and I began my studies at Kothari in 2018 as a 4th-grade student. I was a shy, introverted child who struggled with English and harbored fears of being bullied. However, the sight of the towering buildings, bustling corridors, and the vibrant energy of the students quickly dispelled my anxieties. Little did I know that this place would become my second home, the backdrop for countless memories.
From the moment I walked through the gates, a nurturing environment embraced me. Rather than discouraging me, the teachers provided unwavering support. Some of them have made a lasting impact on my life. One teacher’s words, "You have to stand up for yourself and remember, people will judge you by your results, not your efforts," resonated deeply with me. My parents, especially my mom, have been instrumental in all my achievements. She would wake up at 2 in the morning and stay up until midnight to help me practice. My father, my backbone, would always smile and say, “We will deal with it,” whenever I faced a challenge.
Throughout my six years at KIS, I have had the opportunity to explore a wide range of subjects and extracurricular activities, which have helped me discover my passions and interests. From mathematics to literature, and from debate competitions to music recitals, each experience has enriched my education and expanded my horizons in ways I never imagined.
Of course, school life is not without its challenges. There have been moments of academic pressure, late-night study sessions, and occasional setbacks that have tested my perseverance and resilience. However, it was during these times that I learned the importance of determination, grit, and seeking support from my peers and teachers.
Standing at this milestone, I realize that my school years have encompassed much more than just academics. They have been about forging lifelong friendships, discovering my strengths and weaknesses, and laying the foundation for the person I aspire to be. KIS is more than just a school; it is a community that inspires and supports each student to reach their fullest potential. I will always cherish the memories and the profound impact that KIS has had on my life.
